Jimmy McRae, five-time British Rally Champion and father to legends Colin and Alister, became patron of Disability Motorsport Scotland in December 2015. He started his rallying at the age of 31, driving his own Mk1 Cortina and reached his pinnacle during his spell in the Rothmans Rally Team, driving an Opel Manta 400 and latterly with the Ford Motorsport Sierra Cosworth. He also drove for Austin Rover in the Metro R4, and tested and drove for Mitsubishi Ralliart. Even now he is still winning his class in Historic Rallying – the Roger Albert Clark Rally in 2008, Ypres in Belgium and Barbados Festival in 2015. Still Rallying around the World when he can!

When I was originally asked along to an event I didn’t know what to expect – but now having been involved with Disability Motorsport Scotland, the enthusiasm of all involved is very heartwarming, and to see the smiles on the faces of these guys and girls when they get out the race car after a high speed run is just great. Who would not want to be involved! Jimmy McRae
