Today is “International Day of Persons with Disabilities”, an international observance promoted by the United Nations.
It’s a day to celebrate diversity.
Colin Duthie, Chair of Disability Motorsport Scotland, explains, “We are all different. It’s not the disability that holds us back, it’s the environment and lack of understanding.
“Motorsport is quite rare in the fact that individuals can compete together regardless of impairment. There is so much technical support in terms of equipment and increased understanding within motorsport that disability is just another challenge to overcome, not a problem to fix.
“Disability Motorsport Scotland is doing its bit to support disabled individuals fulfil their dream of participating or completing in Motorsport. We’re changing gears and changing lives.”
